History

Mission

From Giving Gardens's Webpage,  “Giving Gardens was founded in 2022 in Macomb, Illinois by John Curtis, who first managed four public access gardens to share his love of gardening, teaching, and community service. Building on his earlier work with Barefoot Gardens—a unique CSA where members harvested their own food—he created Giving Gardens to make community gardening and fresh, local food accessible to everyone."
Giving Gardens empowers and feeds the community. It’s summed up in their mission statement:
“We believe that everyone should have access to fresh, high-quality food and welcoming spaces where they feel a sense of belonging—yet both are becoming harder to find.”
